IFIP Working Group 11.9 Digital Forensics (Member)

The IFIP Working Group 11.9 on Digital Forensics is an active international community of scientists, engineers and practitioners dedicated to advancing the state of the art of research and practice in the emerging field of digital forensics. Digital forensics is the scientific study of the processes involved in extracting, analyzing and preserving all forms of electronic evidence.

Members are expected to be qualified researchers and/or educators in digital forensics. Members are nominated by the Working Group Chair, subject to IFIP approval. Active participation in the Working Group is expected; at a minimum, presenting a paper or taking an active role in the organization of a meeting at least once every three years (i.e., a three-year period of inactivity is taken to indicate that the member is no longer interested in the technical area).

PHI KAPPA PHI - Honor Society

I have been inducted in the most prestigious honor society here at Iowa State which membership reqruied to be in the top 10% of the University. Iowa State University Engineering Honors Program

The University Honors Program at Iowa State promotes an enriched academic environment for students of high ability, regardless of major, who are interested in taking advantage of educational and intellectual opportunities and challenges. These include the pursuit of a broad liberal education, the ability to individualize the student’s program of study, access to graduate-level courses, and the opportunity to be involved in research projects. Graduation in the Honors Program is recognized by special notation on the student's diploma and permanent record.

Senior Design 2004

Position: Team leader
Team size: 16 developers (4 sub-teams)

The Ames Community Schools are currently looking for a method of development and deployment for their educational software applications targeted at grades 3-6. Currently, each educational software application must manage student information and grades. This makes tracking and evaluating student progress much more difficult for teachers.

The PHP Application Support Framework will be a library of reusable PHP modules and standalone functions in addition to MySQL table skeletons. Developers will be able to utilize the framework to build highly innovative and highly customizable applications for web based training, instruction, assessment, and other forms of education. The end-product will also include intensive documentation and the ability for further expansion.

Golden Key Honor Society

Golden Key is an academic honour society which recognizes and encourages scholastic achievement and excellence among college and university students from all academic disciplines. Membership is only offered if the individual is in the top 15% of his class.

Tau Beta Pi Engineering Association

Position: Recording Secretary, 2003

Tau Beta Pi is the only engineering honor society representing the entire engineering profession. It is the second-oldest honor society, founded at Lehigh University in 1885 to recognize students of distinguished scholarship and exemplary character. Membership only extends if you are in the top 8th of one's class. I am involved with the Iowa Alpha Chapter as the Recording Secretary. The requirements for membership were to be a junior and be in the top 1/8th of my class.

National Society of Collegiate Scholars

Founded in 1994, NSCS is an honors organization recognizing outstanding academic achievement among first- and second-year college students. It encourages the development of leadership skills through community service, grants scholarships, and offers many other opportunities to its members.

A dance organization that teaches salsa, merengue, bachata to its members as well as the Iowa State community. It implements the dances while teaching the culture behind the Latino Heritage.
